I was reading about the effects of sleep on our ability to make healthy eating choices. Did you know that just one night will make a difference? I experienced this yesterday. After not sleeping well Tuesday night and being tired from a business trip and travelling home, I made a plan to stay on track after realizing my tortilla had 320 calories. Due to fatigue I also took a break from the gym. Anyhow, everything was fine until I sat down to watch tv. I snacked on my usual orange to get some vitamin c, then I had one of my new frozen treats (will review over the weekend), andit didn't stop there which it shoudl've; I also had a small package of candy, 2 crackers (one with pumpkin seed butter and the other with raspberry jam).
Lesson learned, in action. I even brushed my teeth and gargles with strong mouthwash to fight the cravings. I am disapointed in myself but also proud for not drinking any alcohol or eating very bad things during my business trip since I was surrounded by pastries and croissants all the time. You win some and you lose some.
I will just get back on track tonight and do some extra cardio before I teach tonight.

Back!
I am back home after a wonderful 3 days in the city for a conference. It was great to eat out at healthy places, focus on my workouts, and get some me time. I was a little antisocial and preoccupied so I didn't see as many friends as initially planned. I tend to get like this when we have to change our clocks here; waking up and coming home in the dark really depresses me.
Anyhow, here is a "meli-melo" of things (mish mash in french):
1) 3-2-0 calories: I really enjoyed my wrap until I got home and found out the tortilla has 320 calories!! What were they thinking? A wrap was easier to eat on a 2 hour train ride than a salad though...BOOOO. I'll have a healthy dinner.
2) Doing a class: I did a class as a participant hoping that it would give me some tips or new things to say. While it was fun to be able to push myself all the way and not have to speak or motivate anyone, the class was pretty bad. The instructor didn't really connect with the participants, give pe cues, know her choreography, or even smile. This has definitely made me realize how important it is to: connect with the class by asking them how they are doing and asking them questions and smiling, give perceived exertion cues to help them work at the right intensity, give visual cues like how steep it should feel.
3) This was my WF salad:

4) These are the two dresses I like so far to go to a wedding in June. The blue one is $115CAD and the greyish one is $230CAD. I am sorta cheap when it comes to expenses like this. I like the grey one better. Photos on Facebook! I may wait to get something since I am hoping to lose a few more pounds.

In the big city
Had a fab day; shopping, friends, laughs, nice weather, spinning, work conference and healthy eating. What more could someone want?
My eats were awesome today:
- fruit salad, 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 ezekiel wrap with pumpkin seed butter
- chai luna bar and apple
- big salad (picture to follow) from the WF salad bar
- latte (not so good)
- rebar
- salad with spinach, blueberries, celery, broccoli, and chicken
I bought a very cute dress for our upcoming trip which is in like 8 days. I also tried on a dress I want to get for a wedding but I am finding it difficult to justify spending 200$ on a dress I may only wear once.
Today will be awesome too.

Sunday
My day is off to a great start; 30 minute treadmill run and 20 minutes of abs! I am off to have breakfast with my mom and stepdad, then we are preparing to head to the big city for my conference. We plan on doing lots of walking in the city :)
I plan on taking some "me" time to do classes as a participant, eat healthy food at my favourite restaurants, and rest up for my trip in 9 days!
It is sunny and beautiful today; +16 compared to rain and +4 we had earlier this week. Wish I had time to go for a jog

Weekend
My family is here for the weekend to go house shopping! Last night we had dinner at a pub and I had the chicken greek salad without dressing with 2 glasses of red wine; I felt proud of this. But then I got home and starting doing prep for our dinner tonight and feel really guilty about what happened; I ate 2 small halloween sized packages of candy and a bowl of cereal which I did not need because I was not hungry. I should've had an orange or nothing. Oh well. I woke up this morning and did a short 15 minute workout to get ready for today and also spend time with J. who I haven't seen all week.

Fighting the Urge to Snack...
I am sitting here, doing some homework before relaxing. My snack tonight is an orange to get my vitamin c and I will not eat anything else!!!!! Baaaaaah! I like night time snacking and would love to have a piece of toast but that is not part of the plan for the next few weeks.
I amalso expericing less blurred vision since I stopped using the puffer. Medication are the devil and they will kill you. I will be assessing my needs and paying more attention to vitamin supplements and antioxidants in the next few weeks.
I walked and ran to my meeting which was 5k's and it was awesome even if it was cold and snowing (wet snow). I need better winter gear since the only winter coat I have is this huge down filled coat that goes below my knees. If only I could live in Hawaii or somewhere else warm. What was I thinking to leave the West coast for this place? It's in the 30's in Singapore and Thailand...cannot wait.
I would rather be doing this...

On Giving Up a Class
Giving Up My Tuesday Class:
I love teaching RPM and have to give up my Tuesday night class, which was PACKED last night I might mention and is at the best gym in the city. Tuesday is a bad night for me and I have had to have someone sub the class a total of 5 times which is not good due to travel and work stuff. There are regulars in the class and who really inspire me and well, it's nice to get to their names and give them a shout out when I am teaching. Since I am finishing my Master's, I have commitments Tuesday night and not to mention that I need to walk 2km's to get to the gym, and then it takes me 1 hour to get home on the bus. I really cannot give up 3 hours on my Tuesdays. I will have this class until Jan.4 then and then that's it. Hopefully I will get to keep my Monday night class or else I will be classless which would suck.
Sick Again:
I have also found a way to still demonstrate proper form but without having my heart rate go too high. I had recovered from the flu but now it appears I have a cold or something; very sore throat, headaches, blurred vision, and runny nose. This is such a bad year for me as far as health. I have eaten the best ever, exercise, and get enough rest, so it is definitely a mystery to me.
Exercise Tonight:
Tonight, I will be walking a total of 6km's since the place I need to get to is not bus accessible.
